About
The Mary E. W. Risteau District Court and Multi-Service Center is a central hub of civic life in Downtown Bel Air. Whether you are visiting for official business or exploring the town’s history and art, here is what you should know:
The building is named after Mary Eliza Watters Risteau (1890–1978), a true Maryland trailblazer. "Miss Mary," as she was known, was the first woman ever elected to both the Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland State Senate. A Jarrettsville native, her legacy as an advocate for education and women's rights is honored by this center, which was dedicated in her name to consolidate state and local services.
As you approach the building, look for the "Cultural Arts" Heart. This is part of the "Hearts of Harford" public art trail, a series of beautifully painted sculptures found throughout Bel Air.Community Events: The center's parking lot is often the site of vibrant community gatherings, including The Maryland State BBQ Bash, Bel Air Community Yard Sale and Flea Market and so much more!
