Winterfarm is a Choose-and-Cut Christmas Tree farm located near Jarrettsville, Maryland. Our farm consists of over 54 acres of gently rolling topography along St. Clair Bridge Road, and has been owned by family for over 120 years. We are part of the Harford County Agricultural Land Preservation Program.
Proprietor Gary Thomas was born the same year his father, Jim Thomas, began growing Christmas trees to sell on Goat Road near Aberdeen. As Gary’s father gained evergreen farming knowledge and honed his craft, Gary’s uncle Lee Thomas, also growing Christmas trees in Aberdeen, nurtured in his nephew a love of growing all things. After a lifetime of learning from both, Gary is considered among peers to be an authority on growing Christmas trees. He specializes in Fraser fir, Winterfarm’s largest crop.
Our farm has won numerous awards for Fraser Firs during the twenty-plus years since the variety was added as a crop. In 2018 we won first prize at the Maryland State Fair, Harford County Fair and Reserve Grand Champion at the Mason Dixon Fair, all for our Fraser Firs. In 2018 we won the Grand Champion prize at the Harford County Fair. We believe we have some of the prettiest Fraser Firs. In 2020 County Living Magazine honored our farm with being listed as one of the 20 Best Christmas Tree Farms in America.
